2-Year-Old Boy Kills His Mother At Wal Mart
An mother who had taken her children to Walmart was killed Tuesday when her 2-year-old son pulled a loaded pistol from her purse and shot her.
At about 10:20 a.m., the 29-year-old and several of her children were in the electronics section of the store when the young boy, who was sitting in the shopping cart, reportedly grabbed a gun that was in his mother’s purse and fired it. According to KXLY, the woman died at the scene.
The Walmart was subsequently evacuated, and employees were told not to comment on what had happened while authorities investigated.
“The store actually evacuated all the patrons out of it, nobody else was hurt which is fortunate,” Kootenai County Lt. Stu Miller said.
This is a pretty tragic incident right now that we’re dealing with,” Miller said at a press briefing the morning of the shooting.
“It appears that the victim brought several of her children here to do some shopping after the holidays. The child looks to be sitting in the shopping cart with the purse while the female victim was shopping.”
Miller and Sheriff Ben Wolfinger released a statement saying that the shooting was deemed accidental.
The Walmart will reportedly reopen on Wednesday morning, according to sheriff’s office. The store responded to the shooting, saying that an investigation is ongoing.
“A very sad incident happened in our store in Hayden, Idaho that involved a female customer,” Walmart spokesperson Brooke Buchanan said. “We are working closely with the local sheriff’s department as they investigate what happened.”

Seriously? This story was all over the news; there is no doubt that it occurred. This trend of responding “fake news” to news that doesn’t comport with your worldview is incredibly troubling.
What you should actually be concerned with is that this news source is reporting this incident as if it occurred yesterday. In reality, it occurred in 2014.

How heartbreaking this child will only know that he killed his mother. What a terrible thing to have happen. This woman should not of had a loaded gun where a 2 year old could get there hands on it. This is a accident that could very easily have been avoided . It’s a sad world we live in that a young mother feels the need to carry a loaded gun to Walmart to go shopping with her young children.

Why would a mother have a gun in her purse to begin with first of all? Second leave it in a cart where the child could get it . Poor toddler now has to live with what he has done. I pray for the family in hope they get the help they will need amen

The exact example of misuse of handling of a dangerous weapon. Sadly the family has to see such a horrible thing. But why wasn’t the purse on her shoulder knowing the gun was in it. Why wasn’t the safety lock 🔒 on it set? Such a shame..🙏💔😥

In my mind.im thinking no….I’m not gonna leave my loaded gun next to my child. Idk about the 2yr old(cuz he might not remember as he gets older) but I’m really hoping the children get the counciling they r gonna need.

I understand that the gun shouldn’t have been any worse close to where the child could get it and say she just wasn’t thinking I’d say that her carrying the gun was protect her children and herself look around you can walk into any store anymore and get shot there’s so many shootings going on it’s getting ridiculous people’s afraid to go out anymore without a gun.
But I do feel sorry for the kids and the whole family I pray they all get through this and get some help and I pray that the baby don’t remember this when he gets older thank you..

I’m finding it hard to believe that a 2 year old child could handle a gun from a purse to the position it would require to shoot and kill another human being. If this were a true story it’d probably be the child shooting himself. The strength it takes to hold a handgun which are pretty heavy and pulling the trigger?? I don’t see a 2 year old possessing that? I hope I’m right!

Maybe the child wasn’t bearing the full weight because the barrel was propped up on the purse or handle of the shopping cart he was sitting in, IDK. I hear what you’re saying though.
