Who is David Paul Olsen?
David Paul Olsen was born in Moline, Illinois USA, on 2 January 1976 – his zodiac sign is Capricorn and he holds American nationality. He’s a stuntman and an actor, but who’s probably known best for being the husband of famous American-Portuguese actress Daniela Ruah.
Early life and education
David was raised alongside his younger brother Eric Christian Olsen in Molin, by their parents Jeanne and Paul Olsen, who prefer to be left out of media thus nothing about them is known. His brother is a famous actor and producer, probably known best for his portrayal of Detective Marty Deeks in the action crime series “NCIS: Los Angeles”.
David grew up being interested in various activities, as he played football, soccer and basketball, and was also into acting, appearing in various plays performed at a local high school.
He practiced his acting skills at a local theatre as well, and upon matriculating in 1994, chose not to pursue a college degree, but to find work and financially support himself.
David worked various jobs for the following 12 years before he ventured into the film industry, and started working as a stuntman.
Stuntman in movies
David’s first work was in the 2006 thriller drama “Deceit”, while a couple of his following movies were the 2007 drama “Protect and Serve”, the 2009 sports comedy “Fired Up!”, and the 2010 romantic comedy “The Back-up Plan”.
Perhaps one of the most popular movies in which he has appeared was the 2016 fantasy comedy “Swiss Army Man”, written and directed by Daniel Schneinert and Dan Kwan, and which starred Paul Dano, Daniel Radcliffe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
It follows a man who’s been stranded on a deserted island, and has befriended a dead body – the movie won eight of the 38 awards for which it was nominated. In the same year, David worked on the comedy “Unit Zero”, while the following year saw him perform stunts in the horror thriller “Delirium”, the action adventure comedy “The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time”, and the mystery crime drama “The Nun”. In 2019, he was a stuntman in the family adventure comedy “Bixler High Private Eye”, as well as in the critically acclaimed western drama “Deadwood: The Movie”, which won three of the 36 awards for which it was nominated, including eight Primetime Emmys.
David’s currently working on the upcoming romantic science fiction thriller “Reminiscence”, set to be released on 27 August 2021.
Stuntman in TV series
David’s debut TV series appearance as a stuntman was in the 2006 episode “Jeffrey’s Choice” of the comedy “Twenty Good Years”.
Some of his following appearances were in the long-running romantic drama “The Young and the Restless”, another long-running romantic drama “General Hospital”, and the crime comedy “Bones”.
In 2014, he performed stunts in the episodes “Welcome to Gitmo” and “Phase Six” of the action science fiction drama “The Last Ship”, created by Steven Kane and Hank Steinberg, and which starred Eric Dane, Adam Baldwin and Charles Parnell. It follows a pandemic which has killed most humans on Earth, and the series won one of the seven awards for which it was nominated. The following years saw David work on an episode of numerous series, such as the crime drama “Ray Donovan”, the sports comedy “Ballers”, and the adventure fantasy drama “Preacher”. Between 2017 and 2019, he worked on six episodes of the critically acclaimed mystery crime drama “Big Little Lies”, created by David E. Kelley and which starred Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley.
It follows the lives of several mothers living in a beach town in California, and it won 55 awards including four Golden Globes, while it was nominated for 94 other awards.
David’s most recent work has been on 71 episodes of the action crime drama “NCIS: Los Angeles”, which has been airing since 2009 and has won 19 of the 42 awards for which it has been nominated, including a Primetime Emmy nomination.
David’s also an actor, with nine credits to his name. In 2008, he voiced Black Ops Soldier in the video game “Resistance 2”, and in 2009 he portrayed a member of the Strike Force Team in the action adventure science fiction movie “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, directed by Michael Bay, and which starred Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel. It follows Sam Witwicky, who finds himself in the middle of a war between the Decepticons and the Autobots, and which won 15 of the 46 awards for which it was nominated, including an Oscar nomination.
A couple of his following roles were in two episodes of the action science fiction drama “The Last Ship”, the 2016 episode “Death” of the crime fantasy drama “Shut Eye”, and the 2017 short action movie “The Chaos Protocol: From the Adapt or Die Files”. The same year saw him appear in the episode “This Is Not a Love Letter” of the comedy “I Love Dick”, the episode “The Spy Who Loved Me” of the action crime comedy “Lethal Weapon”, and the episode “Volume 8: The Hanged Man” of the crime thriller drama “Too Old to Die Young”, both in 2019.
Most recently, in the second half of 2019, David appeared in the episode “Human Resources” of the action crime drama “NCIS: Los Angeles”.
Love life and marriage with Daniela Ruah
David prefers to keep his personal matters to himself, and hasn’t shared a lot regarding his marriage to Daniela Ruah.
The two met in the early 2010s on the set of a TV series, and in December 2013, Daniela gave birth to their son River Isaac Ruah Olsen. They married in Portugal in front of their closest friends and family members on 17 June 2014, and in September 2016, they welcomed their daughter Sierra Esther Ruah Olsen.
Neither of the two have spoken of any other people whom they have perhaps been with, however, there are rumors circulating the internet that David was in a long-term relationship with a mysterious non-celebrity woman prior to meeting Daniela.
As of April 2021, he’s married to Daniela Ruah and has two children.
Hobbies and other interests
David’s physically highly active, and has several workout sessions at the gym each week, while he’s also following a strict diet as it’s important for his career as a stuntman to stay in shape.
He’s passionate about travelling, and has been all around the US for both work and pleasure, and to a couple of Scandinavian countries because of his Norwegian descent; his dream travel destination is Oslo in Norway..
David’s a lover of animals, and has two pet dogs.
Winter is his favorite season, as he knows both how to ski and snowboard, and he also likes summer, as he’s keen on swimming and going scuba diving.
In his spare time, David enjoys watching movies starring his favorite actors and actresses -Russell Crowe, Vin Diesel and Julia Roberts – such as “The Gladiator”, “A Good Year” and the franchise “Fast and Furious”.

Daniela Sofia Korn Ruah was born in Boston, Massachusetts USA, on 2 December 1983 – her zodiac sign is Sagittarius and she holds both American and Portuguese nationality.
She’s an actress who’s probably known best for her portrayal of Kensi Blye in the action crime series “NCIS: Los Angeles”, created by Shane Brennan. It stars Chris O’Donnell, Daniela and Barrett Foa, and follows a team of detectives working on some of the hardest cases in Los Angeles.
Daniela spent the first five years of her life in Boston, raised by her father who’s an Otorhinolaryngology surgeon (ear, nose and throat), and her mother who’s an otologist (ear). The family then moved to Portugal where Daniela attended St Julian’s School, and she was 16 years old when she got to launch her acting career by appearing in the Portuguese soap opera “Jardins Proibidos”. In 2001 upon matriculating, she moved to Britain and enrolled at London Metropolitan University, from which she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in performing arts in 2005.
