“That Desecration is Disgraceful.” Sani, Reacts to the Desecration of Nigeria’s Flag by ISWAP

Former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Shehu Sani, has reacted to the desecration of Nigeria’s ‘National flag’ and destruction of millitary facilities by members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Just yesterday, the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), released a video of its fighters attacking Tukur Yusufu Buratai Institute for War and Peace, a research institute of Nigerian Army University, located in Buratai village, Biu Local Government Area of Borno state, on Monday.

In the video currently making its round on social media, the insurgents were seen firing in different directions with no resistance from the Nigerian army.

The insurgents also burnt down Nigeria’s National Flag, and other flags on the campus. They also destroyed some millitary vehicles on ground.

This latest attack by members of ISWAP, has generated mixed reactions amongst Nigerians. Based on that, former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Shehu Sani has decided to air his opinion through a post that he made on his verified Twitter page.

According to Shehu Sani, good measures should be put in places to secure security facilities and symbols of state authority.

He wrote, “Military university and police training Institute attacked by terrorists. The service and sacrifices of our security apparatuses are appreciated but serious efforts must be made to secure these facilities and national symbols of state authority. That desecration is disgraceful.”
